A few of the most well-known social media websites include FACEBOOK, Twitter, MySpace, and YouTube, where millions of people can connect and share information. Youtube allows for people to post, view and comment on videos. Myspace and facebook allow users to communicate easily by sending messages to one another, promote upcoming events and news, and share information quickly through video, photos and instantaneous status updates.

Blogs are another form of social media. Companies use blogs for social media marketing by creating a sort of online open forum, which can be used to inform readers of up-to-the-minute news. People enjoy reading blogs because they have a user interactive touch to them, something websites don't have. Readers can usually comment on entries, giving them a feeling of personal involvement and interaction.

Social media marketing is a growing trend for obvious reasons. From the volume of people this type of marketing reaches to the amount of personal connection it allows, social websites and blogs are two major methods marketers are currently using and will continue use increasingly in the future.
